The article deals with the views of the Ukrainian scientist-defectologist, candidate of pedagogical sciences, associate professor Rudolph Kraevsky (1897-1980) on the theory and practice of stuttering correction. On the basis of the analysis of scientific works of R. Kraevsky on the specified problem, the main views of the scientist on didactic methods of overcoming this violation were outlined, which were actively used in the post-war period (1940-1950) and have not lost their relevance even now. The article also lists the reasons that, according to the scientist, most often lead to stuttering. The importance of the participation of parents, teachers and educators in prevention and timely corrective work in overcoming stuttering is substantiated.
