FEATURES OF THE COMPOSITIONAL STRUCTURE OF A PHOTO PORTRAIT AS A MEANS OF ARTISTIC EXPRESSION IN THE CONTEXT OF HISTORICAL DEVELOPMENT AND THE LATEST TRENDS IN ART PHOTOGRAPHY IN THE EDUCATIONAL PROCESS OF FUTURE DESIGNERS

Abstract

Purpose. To determine the peculiarities of the compositional construction of a photo portrait as a means of artistic expression. Analyzing the formative, light, color and stylistic aspects of portrait creation Methodology. The comparative and systematic analysis of compositional techniques in the construction of expressive means of photographic portraiture in the historical context of past and present masters is applied, and the students’ photographs based on the provided samples are presented. Results. Photographic portraits taken in accordance with the tasks, taking into account compositional solutions, expressiveness, and emotional perception in the context of historical development and contemporary trends, are considered and analysed. The prerequisites for the successful mastery of multimedia design skills were identified, given the existence of a systematic approach from a pedagogical point of view, as well as the creation of conditions for the development of students’ creativity. The need to master communication techniques when working with a model to express the desired emotional state, including the use of moodboards, was pointed out. Examples are given and practical recommendations are provided on the use of Creative modes in DSLR and system cameras, smartphones with the use of colour filters. Scientific novelty. The compositional and stylistic solutions obtained for different types of portraits are based on the historical development and latest trends in this genre. The influence and connection of spatial compositions, lighting schemes, background, colour solutions, and shooting modes on the expressiveness and emotional perception of a photo portrait are highlighted. Practical relevance. Illustrative material of different stylistic directions of portraiture has been studied and presented. The obtained results can be used in the educational process in the training of bachelors and masters of multimedia design.
