Focus and Scope

The problems of the theory and practice of design are describe in the digest. The issue is directed on distribution and popularisation of scientific workings and achievements of the theory and practice of design and its theoretical part - an industrial art (technical aesthetics), of urban design, history and theory of architecture and research of current problems of art criticism.

Peer Review Process

Procedure for reviewing manuscripts of articles in the collection of scientific works

"Theory and practice of design"

1. Analysis (expert evaluation) of manuscripts of scientific articles is carried out to maintain the appropriate scientific level of the collection of scientific works "Theory and Practice of Design".

2. Collection of scientific works "Theory and practice of design" uses the procedure of Double-Blind Peer Review:

- reviewers do not know the personal data of the author / authors;

- authors do not know the personal data of the reviewer.

3. Scientific articles submitted to the editorial board are subject to initial consideration regarding compliance with the technical design requirements set out on the site.

4. The initial expert review of a scientific article is carried out by the editor-in-chief of the relevant field.

5. The editor-in-chief determines the reviewers engaged in the relevant scientific field. Reviewers (both members of the editorial board and external ones) must be known to specialists in the subject of the submitted manuscript and have at least one publication in the publications included in the List or foreign publications included in the Web of Science Core Collection and / or Scopus, or have monographs or sections of monographs published by international publishers belonging to categories "A", "B" or "C" according to the classification of the Research School for Socio-Economic and Natural Sciences of the Environment (SENSE).

6. When considering scientific articles, the reviewer must pay special attention to:

- relevance of scientific issues raised in the article;

- theoretical and applied value of research;

- observance by authors of scientific ethics, correctness of references to literary sources.

7. After the expert evaluation of the scientific article, the reviewer may:

- recommend an article for publication;

- recommend the article for publication after correction by the author, taking into account the comments and suggestions;

- do not recommend the article for publication.

9. If the reviewer recommends the article for publication after the author corrects the comments or does not recommend the article for publication, the review should indicate the reason for the decision.

10. The editors recommend using the developed standard review form (see on the website).

11. The reviewer sends the review to e-mail: theory.practice.design@gmail.com

12. The editors send copies of reviews to the authors (without disclosing information about the reviewer) or a reasoned refusal of the editors regarding the impossibility of publishing this particular manuscript.

13. In addition, the editorial board checks scientific publications for plagiarism using appropriate software.

Publication Ethics & Malpractice Statement

“Theory and Practice of Design” implements ethical principles in the publishing process in the case of detecting abuse in the publication of scientific works. The ethical principles employed by the editorial staff are based on guidelines developed by NAU (National Aviation University) and consistently adheres to the publishing standards for publishing the Code of Conduct and best practice recommendations for magazine editors and the Code of Conduct for Journal Publishers to ensure the ethics and quality of publication approved by the Committee on Publication Ethics.

Conformance to standards of ethical behaviour is therefore expected of all parties involved: Authors, Editors, Reviewers, and the Publisher.

 

AUTHORS:

 

The Author declares that the manuscript is original and in its present form has not been published elsewhere in any form, that it has not been submitted to any book/journal/proceedings and that it will not be submitted to any other book/journal/proceedings, if it is accepted for publication in the “Theory and Practice of Design”:

– The Author is responsible for the research they have been done and for the results described in the paper;

– The Author warrants that the article does not infringe upon any copyright, contains no libelous or otherwise unlawful statements, and does not otherwise infringe on the rights of others;

- Authors published in this journal agree to the following conditions:

- The author gives the publisher the right to distribute the article as part of the materials of the collection of scientific works "Theory and Practice of Design";

- Authors reserve the right to author their work and transfer to the journal the right to first publish this work under a Creative Commons Attribution License, which allows others to freely distribute the published work with mandatory reference to the authors of the original work and the first publication in this journal. .

- Authors have the right to enter into independent additional agreements on non-exclusive distribution of the work in the form in which it was published in this journal (for example, to place the work in the electronic repository of the institution or publish in a monograph), provided that the link to the first publication in this journal .

- The journal's policy allows and encourages authors to post manuscripts on the Internet (for example, in repositories of institutions or on personal websites), both before submitting this manuscript to the editorial office and during its editorial processing, as it promotes productive scientific discussion. and has a positive effect on the efficiency and dynamics of citing published work (see The Effect of Open Access).

 

 

Reporting standards

Authors of reports of original research should present an accurate account of the work performed as well as an objective discussion of its significance. Underlying data should be represented accurately in the paper. A paper should contain sufficient detail and references to permit others to replicate the work. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements constitute unethical behaviour and are unacceptable.

 

Originality and Plagiarism

Authors should ensure that submitted work is original and has not been published elsewhere in any language, and if the authors have used the work and/or words of others that this has been appropriately cited or quoted.

Applicable copyright laws and conventions should be followed. Copyright material (e.g. tables, figures or extensive quotations) should be reproduced only with appropriate permission and acknowledgement.

 

Multiple, Redundant or Concurrent Publication

An author should not in general publish manuscripts describing essentially the same research in more than one publication. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one publication concurrently constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable.

 

Acknowledgement of Sources

Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be given. Authors should cite publications that have been influential in determining the nature of the reported work.

 

Authorship of the Paper

Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. All those who have made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors. Where there are others who have participated in certain substantive aspects of the research project, they should be acknowledged or listed as contributors.

Therefore author/s should fill in and send the Publishing Copyright Agreement to Editorial Board by e-mail.

 

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

All authors should disclose in their manuscript any financial or other substantive conflict of interest that might be construed to influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript. All sources of financial support for the project should be disclosed.

 

Fundamental errors in published works

When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his/her own published work, it is the author’s obligation to promptly notify the journal editor or publisher and cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the paper.

 

EDITORS:

 

Editors should evaluate manuscripts exclusively on the basis of their academic merit. An editor must not use unpublished information in the editor’s own research without the express written consent of the author. Editors should take reasonable responsive measures when ethical complaints have been presented concerning a submitted manuscript or published paper.

 

Promptness

Any selected referee who feels unqualified to review the research reported in a manuscript or knows that its prompt review will be impossible should notify the editor and excuse himself from the review process.

 

Confidentiality

Any manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. They must not be shown to or discussed with others except as authorized by the editor.

 

Standards of Objectivity

Reviews should be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Referees should express their views clearly with supporting arguments.

 

Acknowledgement of Sources

Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors. Any statement that an observation, derivation, or argument had been previously reported should be accompanied by the relevant citation. A reviewer should also call to the editor’s attention any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and any other published paper of which they have personal knowledge.

 

Disclosure and Conflict of Interest

Privileged information or ideas obtained through peer review must be kept confidential and not used for personal advantage. Reviewers should not consider manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, companies, or institutions connected to the papers.

 

Reviewer misconduct

Editors will take reviewer misconduct seriously and pursue any allegation of breach of confidentiality, non-declaration of conflicts of interest (financial or non-financial), inappropriate use of confidential material, or delay of peer review for competitive advantage. Allegations of serious reviewer misconduct, such as plagiarism, will be taken to the institutional level.

 

REVIEWERS:

 

Any manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. Equality

An editor at any time evaluate manuscripts for their intellectual content without regard to the nature of the authors or the host institution including race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy of the authors.

 

Confidentiality

The editors and any editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher, as appropriate.

Editorial team does not disclose reviewers’ identities.

 

Disclosure and conflicts of interest

Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in an editor’s own research without the express written consent of the author.

 

Ensuring the integrity of the published record – suspected research or publication misconduct

If serious concerns are raised by readers, reviewers, or others, about the conduct, validity, or reporting of academic work, Editorial Office will initially contact the authors and allow them to respond to the concerns. If that response is unsatisfactory, Editorial Office will take this to the institutional level.

Editorial Office will respond to all allegations or suspicions of research or publication misconduct raised by readers, reviewers, or other editors. Cases of possible plagiarism or duplicate/redundant publication will be assessed by the Editorial Office. In other cases, Editorial Office may request an investigation by the institution or other appropriate bodies (after seeking an explanation from the authors first and if that explanation is unsatisfactory).
