TRANSPORT MEANS AFTER LONG-TERM OPERATION: POTENTIAL DESIGN ADAPTATION OPTIONS FOR CIVILIAN INSTITUTIONS

Abstract

The study searched for alternative approaches to the reuse of vehicles decommissioned and considered examples of implemented projects where the adaptation of interior design to new functions transformed objects into civilian institutions. The purpose of the publication is to study the potential for adapting the design of vehicle interiors after long-term operation to civilian institutions. Methodology. The study is based on a comprehensive functional-structural analysis – a detailed study, generalization and systematization of publications and Internet sources, which considers the theoretical and practical adaptation of the design of vehicle interiors after long-term operation to civilian institutions. Results. In the context of the goal, the authors analyze existing examples of adapting vehicles to new functions. They investigate the potential advantages and problems of adapting vehicles to civilian institutions. They develop a conceptual model that allows us to clearly see the potential for redesigning vehicle interiors to the functions of civilian institutions. Scientific novelty. The proposed conceptual model makes it possible to save too many vehicles from disposal and will contribute to the creation of accent cities in the country’s settlements that are able to attract additional attention of consumers. Practical relevance. Innovative approaches to the use of the internal space of vehicles are the basis for creating environmentally sustainable models in the field of design and architecture.
