MODERN TRENDS IN THE USE OF CONTAINER GARDENING IN URBAN LANDSCAPE DESIGN

Abstract

The features of container gardening as a modern approach to improving the urban environment are analyzed. Its functional, aesthetic and environmental advantages, as well as the possibilities of application in urbanized areas, are considered. The main trends in the use of container gardening in public spaces, in particular near catering establishments, have been identified. The influence of container gardening on the microclimate, air quality, biodiversity and comfort of urban spaces has been studied. The choice of plants and container materials, their role in creating a harmonious urban landscape are analyzed. Purpose. To identify the features and trends of the use of container gardening in the urban environment on the example of the city of Kyiv. Methodology. Methods of field research, observations and analysis of existing scientific sources are used. An assessment of container landscaping facilities in different parts of the city, in particular near catering establishments, was carried out. Results. It has been found that container gardening contributes to the creation of a comfortable, environmentally friendly and aesthetically pleasing environment in the city. The key principles of plant selection, placement and care to support the sustainable development of urban spaces are outlined. Scientific novelty. The importance of container gardening as an element of modern landscape design, which contributes to the adaptation of urban areas to environmental and social challenges, has been substantiated. Practical relevance. The study can be used to further develop a strategy for greening urban spaces, including catering establishments, historic areas and commercial areas. The results obtained can become the basis for improving urban improvement and environmental planning of urban spaces.
