EQUIPPING SANITARY AND HYGIENIC FACILITIES AT AIRPORTS FOR PASSENGERS WITH ASSISTANCE DOGS

Abstract

The article proposes the introduction of specially equipped animal care areas in Ukrainian airports. The experience of countries around the world in creating a safe and convenient airport space to ensure a comfortable stay of passengers with animals in airports is analyzed.Particular attention is paid to ensuring that people who need the support of assistance dogs, including people with visual impairments, can travel. The purpose of the study is to provide practical recommendations for the arrangement of animal care areas at Ukrainian airports. The objectives include: studying the experience of leading countries, analyzing examples of the location and use of such areas, and developing proposals to ensure the comfort and inclusiveness of sanitary facilities at Ukrainian airports.Research methodology Theoretical research methods, the method of systematic analysis and generalization of available bibliographic sources – current regulatory documents of Ukraine and leading countries of the world, articles in specialized publications, practical experience of arranging animal care areas in countries around the world – were used.The results of the study prove that the comfort of passengers traveling with pets, persons with disabilities and persons requiring the support of specially trained dogs depends on the availability of appropriate conditions for animals to stay with their owners in the premises of airports and on the territory of airports. Recommendations have been formulated for the equipment of sanitary and hygienic premises for people with limited mobility, in particular for people who use wheelchairs, and at the same time as a grooming area for medium and large breeds of dogs.The scientific novelty is the first proposed methodology for ensuring the inclusiveness of sanitary facilities at Ukrainian airports.Practical relevance. The recommendations provided can be applied in Ukraine after the end of the war and the resumption of air traffic, during the reconstruction of existing and construction of new airports.
