ROLE OF RELIGIOUS EXPRESSIONS IN LINGUISTIC COMMUNICATION (ON THE EXAMPLE OF SELECTED UKRAINIAN HISTORICAL NOVELS)

This paper focuses on the analysis of religious expressions, which – in general terms – fulfill an important role in interpersonal communication. A number of religious expressions are explored in the paper as they were used in dialogues between protagonists of selected Ukrainian historical novels produced at the turn of 19th and 20th centuries. The following types of linguistic forms are analyzed in the paper, namely prayers, greetings, statements, exclamations and thanksgivings. The major aim of this paper is to determine the role and meaning of the religious expressions under scrutiny.References
