Abstract

The given article by Muntian A.O. is devoted to the issue of the evolutionof the Gothic novel. In the study, the author examines a number of Gothicnovels in terms of genre transformation under the influence of time. MuntianA.O. concludes that in the end of the 19th century the Gothic novel modified:gothic paraphernalia is restricted to the background and on the background ofdarkness and horror the philosophical problems are on the forefront; and withthe advent of the 20th century the Gothic novel lost dominance in the literature.
