Abstract

The article is focused on the functioning of the artistic detail. English Literature of the late XIX – early XX centuries is chosen for the analysis. Types and functions of artistic details are described the. The author analyses the correlation between the amount of artistic details and the volume of the text. The correlation between the notions of the detail their amount in various genres of epic works is studied as well
