Removal of lignin and hemicellulose prior to enzymatic hydrolysis of lignocellulosic biomass is essential, as it increases the availability of cellulose for enzyme action. The main parameters that determine the effectiveness of preliminary preparation of lignocellulosic raw materials for hydrolysis are temperature, alkali concentration, processing time. In addition to these parameters, the intensity of physical and chemical processes is significantly affected by the intensity of raw material mixing. The aim of the work was to determine the degree of removal of hemicellulose from wheat straw during alkaline pretreatment in a rotary-pulsation apparatus.
