Submissions
Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.- This submission has not been previously published and has not been submitted for consideration to the editorial offices of other journals (or, if applicable, the necessary explanations are provided in the comments to the editor below).
- The submission file is a document in Microsoft Word, OpenOffice, RTF, or WordPerfect format.
- All Internet references in the text are accompanied by full and correct URL addresses
- The text complies with the stylistic and bibliographic requirements set out in the Author Guidelines
- If the material is submitted to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions ensuring blind peer review have been followed in preparing the submission file.

Page Layout and Formatting Requirements
Page size: 170 × 260 mm.
Mirror margins: top – 2 cm; bottom – 2 cm; inner – 1.7 cm; outer – 1.8 cm.
The last page must be filled to at least 75%.
Manuscripts should be prepared in Microsoft Office Word 2003 using Times New Roman, font size 11 pt, paragraph indent 0.7 cm, with automatic hyphenation enabled and justified alignment, in the following order:
UDC index (left-aligned at the top, 11 pt);
Initials and surnames of the authors (left-aligned, 6 pt spacing above, 11 pt, all capitals, bold);
Organization, Country (no paragraph indent, small capitals, italic, bold, 10 pt, left-aligned, 6 pt spacing above);
Title of the article (centered, 6 pt spacing above, 11 pt, uppercase, bold);
Abstracts and keywords in the language of the article (6 pt spacing above and below, 0.7 cm left and right indentation, 10 pt, italic).
IMPORTANT: The number of authors must not exceed four. For articles of substantial length, the number of authors may be increased (approximately two pages of text per author).
Main text of the article;
IMPORTANT: Only one space should be used between words. Periods, commas, and colons must be placed immediately after the word, without a preceding space.
References (10 pt);
Additional information;
Information in a language (or languages) different from the language of the article (Ukrainian and/or English), with 6 pt spacing above and below:
initials and surnames of the authors (11 pt, all capitals, italic);
title of the article (11 pt, all capitals, bold);
abstracts and keywords (10 pt);
Information about the authors, including the name of the organization(s) where the authors work and the e-mail address of one of the authors.
Headings, Tables, Figures, and Formulas
Spacing between headings (bold), tables, figures, and the main text must be 3 pt above and 3 pt below.
Formulas referenced in the text must be numbered with Arabic numerals in parentheses on the right.
Symbols of physical quantities should be prepared using Microsoft Equation 5 with the following formatting:
variables, Latin letters – italic, Times New Roman;
functions, numbers, Ukrainian letters – regular, Times New Roman;
matrices, vectors – bold, regular, Times New Roman;
Greek letters and symbols – regular, Symbol;
font sizes: normal – 11 pt; superscript – 7 pt; subscript – 6 pt; large symbol – 14 pt; small symbol – 11 pt.
Chemical formulas must be typed in regular font.
Figures
Figures must be prepared in Microsoft Word, TIFF, JPG, or BMP formats (as separate files). Image quality must be 300–600 dpi, black and white, with line thickness of 2 pt.
Illustration elements should be numbered with Arabic numerals (10 pt), starting from 1, without omissions or repetitions, either clockwise, horizontally from left to right, or vertically from top to bottom.
Text labels on figures should be replaced with letters (10 pt), and curves should be designated by numbers (10 pt), which must be explained in the figure captions.
All figures must have captions centered beneath them. Figure captions (10 pt) must not be grouped with the figures.
IMPORTANT: In the text, references to figures must precede the figures themselves. Figures must be grouped, and their position in the article must be “in text” only. In grouped figures, word wrapping rules must be observed to avoid word breaks. The color scheme of figures must ensure that their shape and content remain clear when reproduced in black and white (e.g., when printed).
Tables
All tables must have titles.
The numbered table title (11 pt, italic) should be right-aligned above the table, while the thematic table title (11 pt, bold) should be centered. All figures and tables must be cited in the text and placed immediately after their first reference.
IMPORTANT: In the text, references to tables must precede the tables themselves. Tables must be positioned “in text” only.
General Requirements
The presentation of material must be clear, without repetition or duplication of data already presented in tables, their titles, figures, or figure captions.
Units of physical quantities must comply with the International System of Units (SI).
The terminology used in the article must comply with national standards. Authors are responsible for the scientific content and terminology of the manuscript.
Abbreviations must be spelled out at their first occurrence in the text.
References must be presented in the order of citation and comply with the requirements of Ukrainian State Standards (DSTU).
Bibliographic entries must be numbered and cited in the text using square brackets. References to unpublished works are not permitted.
Additional Information
Additional information must be separated from the last line of the article by one blank line (single spacing). Information about the date of receipt of the manuscript must be provided (right-aligned), for example:
Manuscript received on 00.00.2013.
Information about each author must be provided, including: full surname, first name, patronymic (bold, 10 pt Times New Roman), academic degree, academic title, position, organization, city, country, e-mail address, and contact phone number (10 pt Times New Roman).
A peer review and an expert examination report must be submitted with the manuscript. Editorial changes may be made without consultation with the authors.
Manuscripts that do not comply with these requirements will not be considered.
IMPORTANT: Authors are responsible for the scientific and literary editing of the submitted material, citations, and references. The editorial board reserves the right to edit the manuscript or refuse publication if the submitted material does not meet the specified formal or content requirements. - All manuscripts submitted to the journal “Problems of Friction and Wear” undergo a mandatory plagiarism check prior to the start of the peer review process using the StrikePlagiarism.com system.
