The descriptive thematic study analyzed the stages of creative mathematical thinking in the process of engaging mathematically gifted students. At the initial stage, such students often show their insecurity about their own ability to cope with complicated mathematical tasks. The task of a teacher working with gifted students is to help them evolve from uncertainty to confidence at the final stage. If the teacher manages to form a gifted student's idea of his own development of logical-abstract thinking, then this can become a potential way of accumulating and activating new knowledge, an impetus for the production of innovative ideas, and will help personal realization in the profession.
