The article considers the main issues of content and organization of work with gifted students in the preparatory department. As an example, the use of the case method in the process of preparing students for the external examination in physics. The case method is considered as educational technologies based on the decision of concrete situations (cases) during practical occupations on physics. One of the algorithms for working with the case is proposed and examples of the problem are given.
