The current state and problems of the city main streets of Ukraine

The purpose of the publication is to present the generalized results of the state of urban main streets of Ukraine and to identify problems of the street and road network of Ukrainian cities. The article presents the generalized results of the current state of the main city streets of Ukraine and reveals the problems of the main street and road network of cities of Ukraine. The directions of improvement and development of the transport system of highways are considered. Indicators of the length of streets and roads of Kyiv and Kharkiv are given. The example of the city of Kyiv shows the relationship between the design features of the road - the area of the carriageway and the total length of the street. Statistics on the average linear surface density of streets and roads of Kyiv and Kharkiv are given.
The article is aware of its purpose, namely, presents the generalized results of the state of the main streets of Ukraine and identifies the problems of the main street and road network of cities of Ukraine.
The analysis of the main streets of Kyiv by structural features, divided into categories, indicates that the street and road network of the city with the systems of the main streets of urban and district importance is not developed. Most roads need to be reconstructed, as the existing street crossings are unable to withstand and allow rapid traffic.
To date, the main street and road network of Kharkiv does not correspond to large flows of road transport. Despite the fact that the linear surface density of VDM increases every year.
The study allowed to obtain information about the current state of the main street and road network of streets of Ukraine and to establish that the street and road network of Ukrainian cities with systems of main streets of urban and district importance has not been developed. Most roads need reconstruction and re-equipment.
The results presented in the article can be used during the reconstruction and construction of new highways of the city.
