The article explores the educational system of the Netherlands, which is commonly considered the country of mathematicians. One of the strengths of Dutch education is a strong, almost legendary, commitment to the principles of teaching mathematics. It is emphasized that pupils and students should learn mathematical principles from real-life experiences, rather than first learning the principles and then applying them. Therefore, about half of Dutch students prefer to pursue vocational education. More than 90% of Dutch students are found to graduate from high school with a certain qualification being one of the highest European rates and indicating that the Dutch educational system is one of the most effective.
