The article considers the possible place of author's open hybrid courses (AOHC) in the innovative transformation of the educational process in the institutions of professional pre-higher education (IPPE). During the research the bases of the concept of such courses and features of their realization were formulated. An analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of the AOHC as opposed to the massive open online courses (MOOC) was also conducted. The analysis revealed some advantages of AOHC as a more optimal element of the educational process IPPE.
