The article considers the psychological and pedagogical conditions for activating student self-development as one of the important tasks of the modern system of higher education. The basic principles of construction of educational process and psychological and pedagogical conditions which promote activation of self-development of students are covered: style and methods of teaching directed on creation of students’ installation on self-development, formation of value of self-development and self-improvement. The development of personal self-awareness, awareness of the professional future prospects; analysis of professional ethics problems, worldview, communication, life choice; priority of active teaching methods and creative tasks.
