The paper analyzes the degree of research of the basic determinants of supply and demand in the higher education sector, both among foreign and domestic works of scientists. Based on available research, it is possible to trace the key factors shaping the market for educational services. Thus, it was found that scientists build mainly the demand function and define it as fundamental in the formation of the market of higher education services. A key indicator of this function is the number of people enrolled in higher education institutions (Canada). However, the main factors influencing demand are demographic and economic (Pakistan, Tanzania). Cultural and educational factors determine demand in a country such as Saudi Arabia. Regarding Ukraine, research is based only on determining the determinants of demand, because, according to scientists, the supply of higher education is determined by government agencies.
