The article studies the particular features of the conversational lexicon layer, its constituent parts and functioning in the literary text as well as the reproduction of such vocabulary in the English translation based on the postmodern novel by Serhii Zhadan “Voroshylovgrad” and its English translation. Research has shown the presence of various groups of conversational vocabulary: surzhykisms, russianisms, jargonisms, slangisms, vernacular, taboo. Translation analysis admitted the use of different ways and techniques, in particular, compensation, neutralization, synonymic substitution to reach the similar influence on the reader taking into consideration stylistic loading and emotional colouring of reduced register lexiconReferences
