The article highlights the main directions of theory of literarytranslation development, which acts as a result of translators’ practical activityof classical times. Progressive advance of translation theory from classicallinguistic theory of translation in light of Translation Studieslinguocultorological translation direction, Raymond van den Broek’sdescriptive approach to Gilles Deleuze’s cognitive model of translation isspecified as of primary importance. Each of presented theories is indicated tohave contributed greatly to the scientific progress of translation theory overalland literary translation in particular.References
