Abstract

The article discusses the ethnic differences and their literary depiction in modern US and Canada societies. The paper sets out to explore the First Nations of Canada and Native American literary dimensions through the study of the artistic techniques which demolish and refute the “white gaze” philosophy, widespread in North American societies. Such attitude denies the value of the indigenous people, their history, culture and spirituality in the modern world. Traditional native worldview rests upon the assumptions and life principles very distinct and quite unique from the prevailing Western European thought based upon the patriarchal Christian philosophy, its radical dependency on the masculine supremacy over females and its disdain of indigenous matrilineal lifestyle.
