ANALYZING THE CHILD-DIRECTED SPEECH OF THE TODDLERS IN THE PROCESS OF THE MOTHER TONGUE ACQUISITION IN RESPECT OF MORPHOLOGY

Abstract

This study is conducted to analyze the child-directed speech of the children at 24-36 month old from morphologic aspect of Turkish language. As it is a longitudinal study, the researcher observed the toddlers at specific intervals in playgrounds, schools and at home for about 10 months. The researcher recorded the child-directed speeches of the toddlers by the permissions of their parents. After classifying the findings, the researcher found out that the toddlers changed and replaced some vowels and consonants of Turkish vocabulary and caused morphological changes in some categories. As a result some remarks were made to teachers and the parents of the toddlers in the language acquisition process.
