GLOBAL CHALLENGES OF MICROPLASTICS: CURRENT STATUS AND PROSPECTS FOR COMBATING THEM

Abstract

The sources of microplastics, their distribution in different environments and their consequences for the environment are considered. Special attention is paid to international initiatives, in particular the UN Treaty on Combating Plastic Pollution as an important instrument of the international legal mechanism for environmental protection.
