The article investigates the conditions for the formation of professional competencies of future specialists in the field of nanomaterials. The focus is on productive research. This approach will overcome the existing contradictions between the models of training relevant professionals, on the one hand, and the requirements of business, society and the state to professionals in the professions of the future, on the other.
