This article explores economic essence of the global commodity market and specific characteristics of its development in the context of globalization. We have defined modern trends in functioning of the global commodity market. Furthermore, reasons and phenomena the interaction of which forms foreground trends in development of global flows of commodities in the context of globalization have been analysed.
