THE PROBLEM OF VALUE ADDED DISTRIBUTION BETWEEN STAGES OF GLOBAL VALUE CHAINS IN THE CONTEXT OF COUNTRIES’ ECONOMIC UPGRADING
Keywords:
global value chains, economic upgrading, smiling curve, value added, distance to final demandAbstract
The article analyses the regularities of value added distribution between stages of global value chains to identify the activities creating more value added. It is emphasized that country may perform economic upgrading not only through creating larger share of domestic value added in exports, but also through increasing its absolute volumes. Author’s own approach to estimation of regularities of value added distribution within global value chains for empirical verification of hypothesis about the existence of so-called smiling curve is put forward.References
