The article analyses the peculiarities of global value chains at present stage in the context of the world trade in value added. The participation of developed and developing countries in global value chains is considered, appropriate cause-and-effect relations are explored. The industry-level analysis of the world trade in value added is provided, a special attention is paid to the role of services sector.
