Abstract

This article is devoted to the analysis of professional standards for training air Traffic controllers in the USA, which are among the most stringent and structured in the world. The main regulator of these standards is Federal Aviation Administration, as well as International Civil Aviation Organization and its Document 9835 regarding the level of proficiency in aviation English. The article examines the entry requirements that are the beginning of training. It is also analyzed that the training standards combine universal international requirements of ICAO (licensing, health, level of aviation English) and strict requirements of the FAA (procedure standards, regular recertification and multi-level selection). Special attention is paid to the fact that the professional standards of air traffic controllers work are not limited to knowledge of technical terms and phraseology. The basis of their competence is the ability to speak professionally and communicate in conditions of high workload. The study of these standards allows us to identify trends in the work of controllers and implement them in the model of professional training.
