This article analyzes the structural changes in multinational enterprises (MNEs) network production. It demonstrates current situation in the development of global value chains (GVCs), summarizes the basic theoretical approaches on this issue. The article examines two trends in the localization of multinational firms global chains networks. The first trend indicates a slowdown of such networks growth in the last seven years, and the related trend characterizes an increase in the reverse movement of international production fragments to the MNE home country. These tendencies was influenced by technological, economic and geopolitical factors of the world economy development. The Fourth Industrial Revolution, the robotization of production, and new technologies for shale oil and gas production in the United States are changing the location of individual fragments of MNE's network production systems.
