Focus and Scope

Ukrainian Information Security Research Journal devoted to highlighting research issues of theoretical, scientific, technical and technological problems, related with organization, methods development and tools to information security during its storage, processing and transmission using advanced mathematical methods and information technology, such as:

  • theoretical, methodological, technical, technological and organizational fundamentals of complex information security systems (CISS) development, including the information that is stored, processed and transmitted in computer systems and networks;
  • organization, architecture, design methodology, technology of CISS operation; ciphers, cryptographic protocols and methods of cryptosecurity system selection that are adequate to the information security policy;
  • cryptographic analysis and construction methodology of cryptographic stability assessment, detection methods of cryptographic transformation mechanisms, such as decryption; mathematical models of information structures that require protection, ciphers, cryptographic protocols;
  • mathematical and computational methods of cryptosystem reliability, prediction of cryptographic stability assessment, investigating the cryptographic analysis and synthesis of cryptographic protocols; technical information channels and their models, new technology and means of information protection from the leakage through physical channels;
  • information security standards from the leakage through physical channels;
  • designing the process of information security attacks and its protection;
  • methods and means of measurement and the calculation of the parameters of danger signals;
  • scientific principles, methods and means for consulting and case studies of confidential information protection system that is the State property, and information which contains state secrets in state information and telecommunication systems;
  • development of advanced mathematical methods for the information protection and algorithms for their implementation, systems and means of generation and keys distribution, authentication, electronic digital signature, software and technical protection methods against unauthorized access and technical intelligence.

Target audience: students, graduate students, professionals, researchers and experts in information security.

Peer Review Process

  1. All articles undergo three stages of review:
    1st stage – for compliance with requirements of the journal
    2nd stage – checking for plagiarism
    3rd stage – a double-blind review
  2. The reviewer may be a member of the editorial board or authorized expert in information security.
  3. Chief Editor and Executive Secretary appointed reviewers.
  4. Blind review suggests that neither the author nor the reviewer knows the names of each other, all correspondence between the author and the reviewers conducted by editors.
  5. Results after consideration of articles submitted to the editorial board (report specifically approved by the chief editor of the form).
  6. Reviewer Report is a recommendation, the final decision on the publication of articles The editorial board.
  7. The author can not agree with the opinion of the reviewer and the editor to send a reasoned response.
  8. If necessary, the author sent the comments and term which accepted corrections.
  9. In the event of a negative review of the manuscript the author sent a reasoned review of the refusal.

Articles Submission Deadlines:

  • First Issue - February 1;
  • Second Issue - May 1;
  • Third Issue - August 1;
  • Fourth Issue - November 1.

Journal Publication Schedules:

  • First Issue - March 31;

Publication Ethics

PUBLICATION ETHICS AND MALPRACTICE STATEMENT

The Editorial Board, authors and reviewers of the scientific journal “Ukrainian Information Security Research Journal” follow the international ethical standards and principles based on the Code approved by the Committee on Publication Ethics.

In order to avoid the publication malpractice (plagiarism, misappropriation of ideas, data fabrication and garbling, etc.) as well as to encourage scientific publications of high quality, the Editorial Board reserve the right to reject manuscripts in case of the violence of the following norms:

Duties of Authors

Authors bear the primary responsibility for content and competence of the manuscript.

Any kind of plagiarism (claiming another’s paper as author’s own, excessive borrowings, unmarked quotations, paraphrasing, etc.) and data fabrication are the cases of publication malpractice. Author should provide a list of literature used in the paper with correctly presented bibliographical references and quotations as well as authentic results and supporting information.

Authorship should include all persons who made a significant contribution to the paper; listing of others as co-authors of the manuscript is prohibited. The finite paper should be endorsed by its co-authors. All authors of the manuscript should familiarize with the principles and rules of editorial processing.

Author should not submit a previously published paper or a manuscript already reviewing by another edition.

Professional Ethics of Reviewers

The fundamental principle of peer review is absolute impartiality along with the next commitments:

  • Reviewers should not divulge, submit or discuss the reviewing materials with others till the publication of the manuscript.
  • Reviewers should be the competent authority and provide reasonable opinion and impartial appraisal without making personal remarks.

Ethical Principles of Editors

Bearing responsibility for publication of manuscripts the Editorial Board headed by the Chief Editor acts as mediator between authors, reviewers and editors and sticks to the following regulations:

  • to verify the validity of the research paper, its relevance to the journal, research novelty and significance, lucidity of statements and completeness of findings, relying on reviews, editorial appraisal and legislative regulations on libel, plagiarism and copyright.
  • to ensure and control the transparency of all editorial stages; to evaluate the intellectual content of the manuscripts with regard to the norms of politeness, justice and impartiality to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, political philosophy, ethnic origin, citizenship and social position of the author, as well as to avoid private, political and business interests.
  • to protect author’s privacy and not to submit the unpublished data of the manuscript for looking through or copying to the third party, except the author(s), reviewers, editorial council and publisher, considering exceptional circumstances. All ideas obtained through the review of the manuscript must be confidential and not used for self-profit.
  • to substantiate the decision to reject the manuscript and take appropriate measures in settling of conflicts as well as ethic complaints concerning the published materials.
